The New

There it is, a new year!
So cheer it on before it disappears.
Have some wine, party all night!
Take a load off, start 2022 off right. 
Give in to society's silly traditions and views...
Who knows - You might find more to gain than to lose.
Write some bad poetry to start off your year -
That is surely one way to tackle a fear.
Because time is not there to hinder but rather to fuel,
And for god's sake, please stop playing it 'cool!' 
The earth is in shambles, soon to be torn apart.
Because the world as we know it has lost its collective heart.
So what would we drink for, on this impending doom?!
Perhaps for rejuvenation, or for nature to bloom.
Can't think of anything else worth raising a glass for,
Well, maybe also that we don't all AGAIN start a war...
Never underestimate humans' tendency to be blind,
And still when you meet a hater - be KIND. 
So happy new year to the rebels and those out of line!
The ones that in the darkest of nights find moments to shine.
This cheer is for you in hopes to help you through
Because when the old is gone, what remains is only the NEW.
