Pros And Cons Of Cats

Let me begin by prefacing that I am not a cat.
Hence -  I don't have a proper say in the 'pros and cons' of cat life ;)
But having lived with two cats for the past 11 years... I have some say in the matter. Some.
I believe in 'saving the best for last' so I'll start with the cons:

*CAT SMELL ALL OVER YOUR HOUSE. Sure, you get used to it. But nobody else does. So you might as well just get in the habit of constantly dosing your home with scented sprays, lighting candles, incense, opening windows even in the coldest days... and STILL - it will smell.
*LITTER. Yup, cleaning it is awful. And yup, litter tracks everywhere. So be sure to have a broom handy.
*EXPENSE. Cats are pricey, y'all! Vet visits (Jesus Christ), cat food, litter, toys, prescriptions, cat nip, etc... and let's not forget cat health insurance (I mean, if you DO that).
*HAIRBALL PUKE. Such a con. You know the drill.... have a system down so that you can clean these nasty mishaps as soon as they bubble up. Yuck. Apologies for the imagery. (Insert vomit emoji)
*TRAVEL. If your cats are solely house cats, like mine are, then it will be kinda annoying to travel spontaneously. I always have to make sure a house/cat sitter is available and sometimes  with a short notice - it's not so simple to find.

Okay and now for the pros. Well, the PRO. Because there is really only one. But it's an important one:

*LOVE. There are many ways to show love. And many love languages. And for cats - it's the language of snuggles, cuttles and nudges. One of my cats is incredibly snuggly. She likes to sit on my lap whenever she sees it without my laptop there. She likes to cuttle in bed through the night, and nudge her head against me. She will sit up against me just to feel some human body heat.
Of course, if you are not a cat person - these snuggles will not be your thing. But to me? They melt my heart. Completely.
My other cat is more of a kisser. She wakes me up nearly every morning kissing my forehead. Her little tongue feels like sand paper... it tickles and kinda... hurts? But I love it nonetheless. And of course, there's the purring. the mysterious gargling sound that comes up from cats and vibrates through their whole little bodies. What IS purring anyways!? I have no idea. But I love it.

So there you have it. Pros and Cons of cats.
Seems a bit... uneven. Like there are far more cons than pros.
But love is simply unmatched. It's in its own league.

What evolved is a collection of short stories, poems, life lessons, blurbs and even a play or two.
