Lessons I Teach Myself
Lessons I Teach Myself
In this current re-set of the world, I am looking inward and learning lots.
Here are some of my discoveries:
*I am, to my surprise, and to anyone who knows me's surprise - an introvert.
*Puzzles make me happier than most things and people. (Insert 'Go figure' Emoji here)
*I escaped the problems of my home town (well, home COUNTRY), to face very similar problems in my current home town. (Racism, separatism and hate, to name a few)
*I can pass as White American which benefit me greatly in this country, and even though I am an immigrant woman of Jewish ancestry, the color of my skin offers me a privilege many of my friends of color do not have.
*Being a non-racist is the not the same thing as being an Anti Racist.
*No matter how many books I'll read, there will be plenty more.
*The older I get and the more I learn - the more I know that I KNOW NOTHING.
*Nothing beats nature. NOTHING.
*Patience is a tough concept for me to grasp, and so is time.
*Creativity, storytelling, and going down the rabbit hole of the human condition - are sanity to my existence. I'd use the word 'purpose' but that sounds intimidating and I'd rather treat these elements with joy. Not pressure.
*Couple therapy should be REQUIRED for humans everywhere.
*Also taking a course in CRITICAL THINKING.
*All emotions are beautiful. Yes, also fear and anger.
*Self-Care and Self-Compassion are important to me. They are not selfish like I once thought.
*Daily meditation is not as hard as I once made it to be.
*Working out makes me happy.
*Food that has lots of colors in it, tastes better. (Not scientific fact, just observation)
*The world may be at a downward spiral, but watching the news obsessively isn't going to make it better.
*Juice in the morning is awesome. So is coffee. So is ice cream.
*I watch more youtube than any other TV or streaming channel. I must be a millennial after all.
*There are times to listen, and times to speak up. Choose wisely.
*Black lives matter. Wear your damn mask. VOTE.
*I'll take Marijuana over alcohol any day.
*Fairies DO exist. They look like butterflies and spread fairy dust. Go find them!
*I am a lucky, grateful and WHOLE human being. Just as I am. And anyone who says otherwise can go FUCK ITSELF.

Tamar Pelzig pledged to write something every day, even if it's only a word, so she welcomed to the world a daily blog that may, or may not be, of any significance to anyone other than herself. If you found her lil' life lessons, stories, poems and blurbs meaningful to you, well that's f**ing amazing! Comment and share so she can pat herself in the back - she doesn't do that nearly enough. Cheers.
