Sometimes one has to ESCAPE in order to self-care.
It seems that drastic times require spontaneous trips to the desert! Even though my month was full of travel... here I go again hopping in my little blue car to go on the road to Joshua Tree. My heart was doing cartwheels in my chest over the upcoming elections, so I knew I had to get away in order to force myself NOT TO WATCH THE NEWS SO MUCH. So I made an impromptu plan to spend the next couple of days hiking, star gazing, meditating and observing desert landscapes that always seem to bring sanity back to my stressed anxiety-ridden lil' self. We arrived at night, immediately into star gazing, and my bf even saw a shooting star! Easy to guess what his wish would be... sigh... Next up we were greeted by a mouse in the steps of our airbnb spot for the night. It is the wilderness, and we are solely its visitors. The mouse simply reminded us of the fact. A fact that is so easy to forget in the city. We settled in for the night and relaxation happened almost instantly. Thank you Escape. Thank you Mouse. Thank you spontaneous getaway. I shall brave the next couple of days with you, Joshua Tree. What do you do to keep yourself sane during an apocalypse!?
