Lessons I Teach Myself
|
Have you ever stared deeply at a flower, and saw the entire world in it?
The entire cosmos even? I have. It was a glorious moment. Time stood still as I fell in love with that flower for a few minutes. Nothing existed but the two of us, and I was in complete awe. And yeah, sure, I WAS pretty heavily under the influence of some substances....;) But I guess sometimes us humans need help opening up enough, to see the beauty that is always there. To see and appreciate the smallest things, that are easily forgotten and even stepped on, or tossed aside. The 'Little Prince' said it best: "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; What is essential is invisible to the eye." Nature is teaching me a ton these days. Me, the self proclaimed city gal, who was practically born scared of the smallest insects (Yup, even ants weren't my thing as a kid...) has started day-dreaming of living surrounded by the magic of a forest. With all the 'animals' that it brings along. Maybe a home in Topanga is in my future, maybe a backyard... but for now I'll have to continue flirting with flowers and staring at their easily forgotten beauty.
