Do you sometimes want to drift away?
Exist in a world between worlds? Let go of the present moment that is weighing heavy on ya? Distract yourself with entertainment... with fantasy... with drugs... with sex... with alcohol? Or disappear into flow state in your art, in your craft, in your creative expression? When time disappears - you disappear. You ESCAPE. We all have moments of escapism. Heck, some of my favorite moments of life happen at night when I'm literally dreaming and escaping into the faraway world of my subconscious. I have escaped today - spontaneously found myself in a last minute getaway, a quick departure into another state of mind. From a routine-loving busy home-body, to an exploring traveler for the day. I left my daily planner back home and escaped to the mountains, to gain some perspective, some escape, some peace of mind. Escapism gets vilified a lot. But without escapism - we wouldn't know the state of actually BEING in our reality, or more like - the state of what we perceive as "reality". We wouldn't know how to appreciate being exactly in the moment, in awareness and in our bodies. Without escapism 'reality' is just a word. It has no meaning. Does anything has meaning without absence? ...Thoughts from an escape artist...
