If I could sit with you
Once more, I wouldn't waste any time Arguing, About whether there is a god, Or whether the earth is flat, Weather you were the one That asked me out That night when we had too much to drink By the old carousel. You leaned on a horse That was dusty and cracked, While I tried to push buttons To make it start, But the carousel didn't move that day And neither did our affair That never happened. But if I could sit you with Once more, I wouldn't tell you any of that. Instead, I would leap into you arms, To see what it would feel like To be held by you. I would get close to your lips, just close enough, To feel what it would be like To be kissed by you. I would touch your heart To hear its beating pulse One more time. I would say goodbye And tell you, you were loved that night When we had too much to drink By the old carousel. Oh, if only I could sit with you Just once more.
